Prepositions are the words which are used in a sentence to show the time, place, location, basically the geographical relationship between objects.
In case of German language , prepositions are divided according to cases. In Level A2 , we study the Akkusativ Präpositionen.
Akkusativ Präpositionen
There are some prepositions in German which means the article following that preposition will follow the rule of declension of akkusativ case irrespective of presence of an object or not.
German Präpositionen which take Akkusativ case.
- für : for (purpose)
Ich habe ein Geschenk für meinen Bruder.
(Ich is the Subject
Geschenk is the Direct Object
für meinen Bruder is the prepositional object with Akkusativ)
Lets understand with the help of another examples:
Das Buch ist für mich.
Hier istein Brief für den Vater.
Ich arbeite für meine Familie
- bis : until / upto
Ich bin in Berlin bis nächsten Sonntag.
Wir arbeiten von 10:00 Uhr bis 5:00 Uhr.
Mach bitte deine Arbeit bis Samstag.
- durch : through
Ich fahre durch den Park.
Komm schnell! Aber nicht durch den Garten.
Ich sehe durch das Fenster.
- gegen : against
Bist du für mich oder gegen mich.
Das Auto ist gegen den Baum gefahren.
Ich bin gegen die Fashion Shows.
- ohne : without
Ich kann nicht ohne dich leben.
Ich gehe nie ohne meinen Hund spazieren.
Ich kann nicht ohne Brille lesen.
- um : around
Wir sitzen um den Tisch.
Der Zug fährt um 12:00 Uhr.
- entlang : along
Gehen Sie hier die Straβe entlang.
Wir gehen spazieren den Rhein entlang.
(entlang is the preposition which comes at the end oft he sentence)
