Personal Pronomen Nominativ (Personal pronouns in Nominative)

Pronouns are used to substitute a noun in a sentence. It avoids the repitition of noun in a sentence. There are three ‘persons’ in German language both in singular and plural form:

1^st Person  (oneself), when I am talking about myself, I becomes the first person.

2^nd Person (to someone), when I am talking to someone, he/she becomes the second person.

3^rd Person (someone else), when I am talking to someone about someone else, that someone else becomes the third person.

In German language, these three ‘persons’ are both in singular and plural form and it differentiates between formal and informal form in the second person.

1^st Person:

Singular	Plural
Ich wohne in Berlin.	Wir wohnen in Berlin.
Ich habe einen Hund.	Wir haben einen Hund.
Ich liebe Deutschland.	Wir lieben Deutschland.

2nd Person (informal):

Singular	Plural
Klaus, wo wohnst du?	Stefan und Klaus, wo wohnen ihr?
Woher kommst du?	Woher kommen ihr?
Was machst du?	Was machen ihr?

Here , we can see instead of using the name Stefan and Klaus again and again we have replaced them with the personal pronomen ‘du’ and ‘ihr’.

2^nd Person (formal):

Wo wohnen Sie? – Ich wohne in Berlin.	Wo wohnen Sie? -Wir wohnen in Berlin.
Woher kommen Sie?- Ich komme aus Italien	Woher kommen Sie?- Wir kommen aus Italien
